Make the game. Make it matter.

At the request of the Center for Information Security and Privacy Protection (CIP) and CIO Rijk, Duckbilliant has built a moderation app for a new ransomware game. This serious game was developed by CIP in collaboration with CIO Rijk for a government-wide awareness program regarding cybersecurity.

The game is available for government organizations (public sector). Other organizations that affect the vital processes of the government or fulfill a broad societal function can submit a request for use to CIP.

Development and Functionality
Based on basic ideas and an Excel tool as an example, Duckbilliant has built an app that almost completely automates moderation. Duckbilliant actively contributed to defining and developing useful functionality, both for testing the game scenario and for game execution.

The moderator guiding the game session only needs to press buttons to initiate actions requested by the participants. The further game execution, which uses videos, images, text, and audio material, runs completely automatically.

As a result, the moderator is well able to follow the substantive game execution and provide feedback afterwards. After all, the evaluation of the game together with the participants is an important part of executing a serious game. This discusses the learning and improvement points that playing the game has yielded, both personally for the participants and for the organization to which they belong.

Future Developments
In collaboration with CIP, Duckbilliant will further develop the app into an 'automoderator generator'. This generator app will produce an automoderator app of the game based on an input file with the description of a game scenario. This makes modifying an existing automated game app or delivering a completely new app of a new game scenario a matter of hours instead of weeks.
